Lanier Animal Hospital was founded in June of 2002. We provide an array of veterinary services, including dentistry, surgery, radiology, hospitalization, vaccinations, and geriatric pet workups. Meet Our Staff Dr. Mavis McCormick-Rantze - Veterinarian/Owner Dr. McCormick-Rantze graduated in 2003 from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She also has undergraduate degrees in Animal Science and Zoology from the University of Georgia. Besides small animals, Dr McCormick-Rantze has a strong interest in avian and exotic animals. She lives in Cumming with her husband and their two dogs, five cats, two birds, and two saltwater fish tanks. Dr. Morgan Smith - Veterinarian Dr. Smith graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 2009. She also has an undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the College of Charleston. Dr. Smith enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine with particular interest in internal medicine and dermatology. She lives in Alpharetta with her husband Tyler and their two Boxers, Oscar and Zoe. Cheryl Lively - Groomer Cheryl has been with Lanier Animal Hospital for many years - longer, in fact, than anyone else! She was originally a Veterinary Assistant but went on to pursue grooming. In her spare time, she likes to relax at her lake house at Lake Hartwell. Cheryl has one dog, Little Girl, and two cats. Devin Lumbatis - Veterinary Assistant Devin recently started Gainesville College and is majoring in business management. She plans to transfer to UGA in a few years and hopefully will ride on the equestrian team. She enjoys horseback riding and her dream is to own and run her own horse farm as well as train. Devin has 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits and a few horses. Nicole Gifford - Veterinary Assistant Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Nicole moved to Sugar Hill in June of 2010 with her husband, two daughters and their rat terrier, Sparky. She has been a veterinary assistant for 7 years. In her spare time she enjoys hiking with her family, horseback riding and getting away on their Harley Davidson. Ashley Bowker - Veterinary Assistant Ashley is attending Gwinnett Technical College. She plans to graduate as a Veterinary Technician in the next few years. She enjoys scrapbooking and spending time outdoors. She currently lives in Hamilton Mill with her Pomeranian, Lacee, and cat, Zoey. Stephanie Daniel - Veterinary Assistant Stephanie graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and loves working with animals, especially dogs and cats. She just moved from Athens to Cumming in October 2011, with her husband and their sheltie, Lacey. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, traveling, and photography. Samantha Jo Radford - Veterinary Assistant Sammy Jo attends Gainesville State College and is transferring soon to begin a Veterinary Tech Program at Gwinnett Technical College. She has two dogs, a basenji and a pit-bull that she loves very much! Ms. Kitty Ms. Kitty is our resident feline and acts like she owns the place. She was a former client's cat that had a severe lower back injury that severed her spinal cord leaving her unable to go to the bathroom. We worked with Ms Kitty for so long that she just became part of the Lanier Animal Hospital family. Meow!
