Learn About Our Hospital and Meet Our Staff

Lanier Animal Hospital was founded in June of 2002.

We provide an array of veterinary services, including dentistry, surgery, radiology, hospitalization, vaccinations, and geriatric pet workups.

Meet Our Staff
Dr. Mavis McCormick-Rantze
Dr. Mavis McCormick-Rantze - Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. McCormick-Rantze graduated in 2003 from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She also has undergraduate degrees in Animal Science and Zoology from the University of Georgia.

Besides small animals, Dr McCormick-Rantze has a strong interest in avian and exotic animals. She lives in Cumming with her husband and their two dogs, five cats, two birds, and two saltwater fish tanks.


Dr. Michelle Gardin
Dr. Michelle Gardin - Veterinarian
Dr. Gardin graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She completed a small animal internship at Auburn University, and spent over 5 years as a staff veterinarian at a local veterinary emergency hospital. Dr. Gardin lives in Sugar Hill with her family.

Her main areas of interest include small animal internal medicine, endocrinology, soft tissue surgery and emergency and critical care. Dr. Gardin has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a small fish tank at home. She enjoys photography, scrapbooking, and reading in her spare time.

Cindy Jackson
Cindy Jackson - Head Veterinary Technician/Hospital Manager
Cindy is a licensed technician in the state of Georgia (which you can compare to a Registered Nurse in human medicine). She graduated from Gwinnett Technical College in 2000 with an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology and has over 10 years of experience in the veterinary field.

Cindy has 2 cairn terriers, Maxon and Tigger, as well as a turtle named Tuna. In her free time Cindy enjoys watching movies, traveling, and photography.


Rachel Keith
Rachel Keith - Veterinarian Assistant
Rachel is currently enrolled at Gwinnett Technical College and will begin the veterinary technology program in the fall of 2007.

She has one dog, Jackson, who loves to do tricks, eat food, and go for rides in the car. Rachel also enjoys taking care of her family members' many dogs.

In her spare time, Rachel enjoys going to the lake with her husband, walking her dog, and being with friends and family.


Devin Lumbatis
Devin Lumbatis - Veterinarian Assistant
Devin recently started Gainesville College and is majoring in business management. She plans to transfer to UGA in a few years and hopefully will ride on the equestrian team.

She enjoys horseback riding and her dream is to own and run her own horse farm as well as train.

Devin has 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits and a few horses.


Kaitlyn Schmidt
Kaitlyn Schmidt - Veterinarian Assistant
Kaitlyn is a culinary school graduate from Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky. She had worked in kitchens for four years, until she came to Lanier Animal Hospital.

She has two problematic but adorable puggles (pug and beagle mix), Chloe and Emma. With all of their problems, Kaitlyn was constantly at Lanier Animal Hospital and decided to join the loving staff that took great care of her pets. She also has three chihuahuas, PJ, Snickers and Lilly.

Kaitlyn is frequently known to petsit, so track her down if you need someone to look after your animals while you are away.


Sarah Wike
Sarah Wike - Veterinarian Assistant
Sarah is a student at North Georgia College and State University as a biology pre-vet major. She has a dog name Mia and four cats: Sam, Gracie, Andy, and Moose.

In her spare time Sarah enjoys watching movies, going put-putting, and spending time with my friends and family.


Kristin Restauri
Kristin Restauri - Veterinarian Assistant
Kristin recently graduated high school and plans to attend Gwinnett Technical College. She has been working in the veterinary field for 5 years.

She is the proud owner of 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits, 3 rats, 3 guinea pigs and a frog.


Taryn Irvin
Taryn Irvin - Veterinarian Assistant
Taryn is currently going to Gwinnett Technical College pursuing business office technology and will then transfer to a four-year college to pursue a marine biology degree.

She has been working in the veterinary field for 5 years and has 2 dogs, a dalmation (Dutchess) and a tea cup chihuahua (Sadee).

In her spare time, Taryn loves doing things outdoors, playing with her dogs, and hanging out with her friends.
