What are your billing
procedures for expensive procedures or hospitalization?
First of all, we accept and highly recommend
Health Insurance for pets (call us for details.) For elective procedures,
payment is due when service is rendered. If the owner wishes, he or she
may pay for elective procedures in advance on a weekly basis. The procedure
may then be performed when the estimate for the procedure is reached.
In emergency situations, concerns about billing should be discussed with
the veterinarian and the hospital manager.

On which days to you
do surgical procedures?
Most surgeries are performed on Mondays
and Thursdays, in the morning. If these days are impossible for you, let us know. We will
do our best to accommodate your needs.

What do you offer
as far as preventive care?
We offer vaccinations for many viral and
some bacterial diseases. We also recommend screening for internal parasites
every 6 months via a stool check. We perform yearly heartworm tests on dogs. We also
strongly recommend yearly bloodwork on all pets to screen for kidney and
liver disease, diabetes, to check electrolyte status, and to screen for
anemia (low red blood cell count). We perform dental cleanings on cats and
dogs (usually recommended yearly). Furthermore, we recommend heartworm and
flea prevention on all dogs and all cats.

What do I do if I

Call our office for instructions. At night, and on weekends and holidays, we refer our patients
to the Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett (770) 277-3220.

My pet is a senior.
Are there any more things I need to do for his health?
Definitely. Regular checkups every 6 months for pets 7 years and older, which include
a weight and thorough exam by the veterinarian, are very helpful in catching
problems early. We also recommend blood work to screen kidney and
liver health, check for diabetes, monitor electrolyte status, and screen
for anemia ( low red blood cell count). Almost all senior pets require some
type of dental care on a regular basis. On some pets, we may recommend chest
x-rays, abdominal ultrasound, and an EKG.

What is included in
an Annual Feline Visit?
A thorough physical exam, which includes
examining the mouth and teeth for dental disease and tumors, examining the
eyes, the retina (located at the back of the eyeball), the ears, the
lymph nodes, checking the heart for murmurs, listening for abnormal lung
sounds, and palpating the abdomen for lumps. It also includes taking the
pet's weight, temperature, heart and respiratory rates, and noting
any changes from the last visit. Lastly, we will talk to you about your
pet's habits and evaluate the need for certain vaccines. For most
cats we recommend the feline distemper vaccine, the feline leukemia vaccine,
and the rabies vaccine. We also screen cats for
internal parasites via a microscopic fecal exam, and for cats considered to be at "risk", an annual Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS blood test.
